VESPER COCKTAIL

1. (n) A martini, the signature drink of James Bond, invented by Ian Flemming for him in the novel Casino Royale, where, in Chapter Seven, Bond directs the bartender to mix two measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel.

There’s History Here

In the 1950’s, the footprint that holds Vesper Lounge used to house a deli storefront and a tiny bar.

In 1979 it became the Lancer Lounge—somewhat of a benchmark among Denver dive bars. Frank Bonanno took over in 2012 but kept nods to the history of the building. Once the astroturf was removed in the East Room, it revealed the original black and white tile of the deli. And once the Lancer Lounge letters were removed from the awning outside, they were rearranged to spell Vesper’s motto “No Anger”, still hanging on the interior wall today. Frank envisioned a place for the neighborhood. For watching a game or playing one of your own at a table with friends. For unwinding amid chaos and laughter over a barrel sized but inexpensive pour. Vesper Lounge is it.
